French mobile telephone operator SFR, a unit of Vivendi SA
(VIV.FR), and software company Dassault Systemes (DSY.FR), have
teamed up to set up cloud computing services for companies, French
magazine Challenges reported.
In cloud computing, users store data not on computers or on
local servers but remotely and is maintained by servers that may be
in several locations.
SFR and Dassault will compete with a project set up by French
defense and electronic systems company Thales SA (HO.FR) and France
Telecom SA (FTE.FR), the magazine said on its website citing
information from the industry ministry.
The French government will select one of the two projects and
will partly finance it, the magazine said.
