Grafton Group Plc ("the Company") has been informed on 2 November 1999 by Bank
of Ireland Asset Management Limited of 26 Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2 that it
had a notifiable interest in 2,187,869 Grafton Units representing 12.66% of
the issued share capital of the Company. The Units are registered in the name
of Bank of Ireland Nominees as registered owner only, on behalf of a range of
clients who are each the beneficial owner of a portion of the shareholding.
