           Laura Ashley Holdings plc ("the Company")
                               

Laura Ashley Holdings plc was yesterday advised by Kleinwort
Benson Group plc, on behalf of itself and Kleinwort Benson
Investment Management Holdings Limited, together with its
subsidiaries, that following an increase in the ordinary share
capital of the Company it has a non-beneficial interest in
17,392,122 ordinary 5p shares of the Company representing
4.37% of the shares in issue (previously 7.27%).  This holding
includes 2,487,992 shares held by Kleinwort Benson (Jersey)
Trustees Limited for the Laura Ashley Employee Share Ownership
Trust.

Ownership of Kleinwort Benson Group plc is vested in Dresdner
Bank AG through its subsidiaries Dresdner Investments (UK)
plc, and Zenon Beteiligungs GmbH each of which is also deemed
to have the above interest.
