                           ARCHIPELAGO RESOURCES PLC

                     Issue of Shares and Holding in Company


As previously announced, Archipelago Resources plc ("the Company") has agreed to
place 22,780,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the capital of the Company ("the
Ordinary Shares") at the placing price of 42p per Ordinary Share in accordance
with authority previously granted by the Company's shareholders. As of 26 April
2006, the Company has issued 15,915,425 Ordinary Shares of the 22,780,000
Ordinary Shares to various placees. The Company has applied for these Ordinary
Shares to be admitted to AIM and admission is expected on 1 May 2006.


As a result of the placing, the Company was informed on 20 April 2006 by the
Jennison Natural Resources Fund, Inc. ("Fund"), on behalf of itself and its
ultimate parent, Prudential Financial, Inc., that Prudential Financial, Inc.
(through attribution of ownership by the Fund) has acquired an interest in
4,800,000 Ordinary Shares, representing 4.2% of the Company's issued share
capital (which includes the 15,915,425 Ordinary Shares referred to above).
