ARCHIPELAGO RESOURCES PLC
APPOINTMENT OF A NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Archipelago Resources Plc ("Archipelago" or the "Company") is pleased to
announce the appointment of Mr Jeremy Ayre as a non executive director of the
Company. Mr Ayre is the nominee of major shareholder Baker Steel Investment
Funds ("Baker Steel") in accordance with an investment agreement announced on 24
February 2009.
Jeremy William Dowling Ayre (43) is a director and co-founder of AWR Lloyd, a
strategic and financial advisor to the energy, mining and metals sector in Asia.
He has extensive experience in the mining industry as a professional engineer,
corporate executive and advisor on M&A and strategic issues. He worked in an
operational capacity at mines in Australia and Portugal and was a member of Rio
Tinto's 'Business Evaluation Department' based in London for a number of years.
At Rio Tinto he advised the board and directors on group capital expenditure
proposals, strategic decisions and valuation methodologies.
Prior to AWR Lloyd, Jeremy worked in M&A and privatization transactions at
Paribas, a French investment bank for three years. Since 2002, he has been
focused on strategy consulting assignments and M&A deals for mining industry
clients in south-east Asia and Australia.
Jeremy has also been a non-executive director of Baker Steel Capital Managers
and its funds since 2002. Baker Steel is a London-based fund management company
specialising in the resources sector with approximately US$600 million under
management. In 2008, he partnered the launch of Baker Steel's Genus Capital Fund
which targets special investment situations in private resource projects.
He was educated at the University of NSW in Sydney (B.Eng, Hons) and the Ecole
Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees in Paris (MBA).
The Board welcomes Mr Ayre as part of Baker Steel's commitment to assist the
Company to meet its project development objectives.

Archipelago is a mining company listed on the AIM market of the London Stock
Exchange. The Company's principal activities are gold mining and exploration in
Indonesia (as 85% owner of the Toka Tindung Gold Project in Sulawesi), Vietnam
(as majority party in the Pac Lang and Cam Thuy/Ba Thuoc joint ventures with
VINACOMIN a Vietnamese Government mining company) and the Philippines (as option
holder over a 100% interest in the Corplex tenements).
