                    ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE OSLO STOCK EXCHANGE 
                                      AND 
                              LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE


On 17 September 2002, it was intimated to Axis-Shield plc that Mr George
Zajicek, the Business Development Director of Axis-Shield Diagnostics Limited,
as such a primary insider of Axis-Shield plc for the purposes of Section 3-1 of
the Norwegian Securities Trading Act 1987, purchased 3,000 Ordinary Shares of
Axis-Shield plc at a price of GBP1.13 1/4 per share on 16 September 2002.

Prior to this purchase Mr Zajicek held 1,000 Ordinary Shares in Axis-Shield plc.
His shareholding in Axis-Shield plc is therefore now 4,000 Ordinary Shares.

This announcement requires to be made on the London Stock Exchange and is
repeated in Norway for Oslo Stock Exchange purposes in accordance with the
"equivalent information" rule (Rule 9.9 of the UK Listing Authority Rules).
