Notification by Briggs & Stratton Corporation of Counterfeit Battery Chargers

MILWAUKEE, April 3, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Briggs &
Stratton Corporation is notifying consumers that the battery
chargers identified below bear a counterfeit UL Mark. These
chargers, in fact, have not been evaluated by UL for conformity to
its standards. They are known to be sold with John Deere electric
start lawn mowers, models JS30 and JS35. Manufacturer: Briggs &
Stratton Power Products Group, LLC. Date of Manufacture: March,

manufacturer has received no reports of hazardous failure on these
chargers during the period of manufacturing stated above.
Recommended Action: Due to the violation of UL's trademark the
manufacturer recommends that you discontinue use of the charger and
contact the Briggs & Stratton consumer call center,
1-800-935-2967, with any concerns relating to this charger.
Replacements will be provided upon request by the consumer. Sold
at: Chargers carrying the counterfeit labels were included in lawn
mowers sold at Lowe's stores and John Deere dealers. Briggs &
