Christmas Trading Update

Clinton Cards PLC, the UK's market leading greeting card retailer, today reports on its trading performance for the Christmas period to 1 January 2012.

Clintons saw positive like-for-likes in the five weeks to January 2012. We undertook improvements to our business including a renewed focus on ensuring we had the right customer offer and improved customer service.

The strategic review, begun by Darcy Willson-Rymer when he joined as CEO in October 2011, is underway and due for completion in the second quarter of this year. Within the review, the customer experience, the store portfolio, business efficiency, and the digital offering, are all being examined.

Darcy Willson-Rymer, Chief Executive Officer, commented: "Since I joined Clintons, we have had a single-minded focus on the customer. Our Christmas trading update recognises the positive impact of this approach. Going forward, there is clearly more work to be done and I am looking at this within my strategic review. Despite a tough retail climate, we remain in line with the Board's expectations."
