LONDON--Cable & Wireless Communications PLC (CWC.LN) Thursday confirmed that it is in talks with cable company Liberty Global PLC (LBTYA) regarding a possible stock and cash offer for the Caribbean and Latin America-focused telecommunication company.

The company said there can be no certainty over the possibility of a firm offer, or on the offer terms. It has advised its shareholders to take no action.

Liberty Global, under U.K. takeover rules, is required to make a firm offer for Cable & Wireless by Nov. 19.
