                    INCO LIMITED ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATION IN
                   OCTOBER 14, 2004 MEETING IN NEW YORK CITY
                    OF THE METALS ANALYSTS GROUP OF NEW YORK

Toronto, October 6, 2004 -- Inco Limited ("Inco") announced today that it will
be making a presentation at a meeting in New York City with representatives of
the investment community on October 14, 2004. While the presentation will not be
webcast, the text of the presentation to be made and slides to be used by Inco
as part of the presentation will be made available on Inco's website.

Scott M. Hand, Inco's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, will be making a
presentation on Inco's plans and strategies at a meeting of the Metals Analysts
Group of New York scheduled to be held in New York City on October 14, 2004. Mr.
Hand is expected to speak beginning at 1:00 p.m. (New York time) that day.
Copies of the text of Mr. Hand's presentation, as well as the slides he will be
utilizing for the presentation, will be available for on-line viewing and/or
printing at approximately the time his presentation is expected to begin through
the "Latest Presentations" link on Inco's website, www.inco.com.
