PR Newswire (US)
TROY, Mich., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PPG Industries
(NYSE: PPG), the world's leading manufacturer of transportation
coatings, was named a 2008 Automotive News PACE Award winner for
Green Logic paint detackifier. This marks the sixth time PPG has
received the award, which recognizes automotive suppliers for
superior innovation, technological advancement and business
performance. A winner in the manufacturing process and capital
equipment category, Green Logic paint detackifier is used by
domestic, European and Japanese automakers to denature and remove
over-sprayed paint from the water wash system in automotive paint
spray booths. The patented formula, which incorporates chitosan
derived from crab, lobster and shrimp shells, provides an
environmentally responsible alternative to detackifiers derived
from non- renewable, petroleum-based raw materials or based on
chemistries containing residual-free formaldehyde. Green Logic
paint detackifier helps automakers realize performance gains in
paint detackification and overall paint spray booth operations, and
it offers greater ease of operation and savings from reduced
maintenance, chemical, wastewater treatment and waste disposal
costs. "We are truly honored to receive the PACE Award for this
exciting product," said Dennis Kovalsky, PPG vice president,
automotive coatings. "In Green Logic paint detackifier, PPG is able
to continue its longstanding tradition of providing customers with
innovative solutions that improve system performance while reducing
overall costs and environmental impact." The 14th annual PACE
(Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contribution to Excellence) Award
was presented by Automotive News, Microsoft, SAP and Transportation
Research Center Inc. (TRC Inc.). The competition was open to
suppliers who contribute products, processes, materials or services
directly to the manufacture of cars or trucks. On the forefront of
innovation in decorative and protective coatings and environmental
application concerns since 1924, PPG helps automakers advance
coatings technologies and application processes. About PPG
