The diluted net asset value as at 30 June 1999 was 148.8p per ordinary 10p
share (31 May 1999: 143.5p). 

As announced on 27 May 1999, proposals will be put to shareholders in
September 1999 with a view to winding-up the company and offering shareholders
the choice of an investment in an Open Ended Investment Company or cash.  In
view of these proposals, the portfolio of the company is gradually being
reduced and the proceeds invested in government securities.  As at 30 June
1999 this liquidity element of the portfolio represented approximately 46% of
the diluted net assets of the company.
