Fission Announces Multiple High-Grade Assays
April 14 2014 - 2:00AM
Marketwired Canada
FISSION URANIUM CORP. (TSX VENTURE:FCU)(OTCQX:FCUUF)(FRANKFURT:2FU) ("Fission"
or "the Company") is pleased to announce assay results from twelve holes at its
Patterson Lake South (PLS) property in Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin, Canada.
All twelve holes are drilled within the R780E zone and returned wide intervals
of mineralization, with nine of the holes returning high-grade assays. Of
particular note is hole PLS14-132 which intersected multiple zones of
mineralization including intervals such as 8.48% U3O8 over 3.5m in 4.03% U3O8
over 8.0m.
Ross McElroy, President, COO, and Chief Geologist for Fission, commented,
"This is a strong set of assays with wide intervals and high grades
from holes drilled early in winter program. They contribute
significantly to the confirmed mineralization at PLS and provide us
with additional data to help direct future drill targeting."
Assay Highlights
PLS14-132 (Line 810E)
- 46.0m (134.5m to 180.5m) @ 0.72% U3O8, including:
10.5m (169.0m to 179.5m) @ 2.41% U3O8
- 5.5m (216.0m to 221.5m) @ 1.54% U3O8, including:
3.0m (217.5m to 220.5m) @ 2.74% U3O8
- 8.0m (226.5m to 234.5m) @ 4.03% U3O8, including:
3.5m (229.5m to 233.0m) @ 8.48% U3O8
PLS14-136 (Line 600E)
- 41.0m (119.0m to 160.0m) @ 0.92% U3O8, including:
8m (133.0m to 141.0m) @ 2.59% U3O8 and
2.5m (145.0m to 147.5m) @ 3.69% U3O8
PLS14-126 (Line 780E)
- 8.5m (152.5m to 161.0m) @ 1.3% U3O8, including:
1m (157.0m to 158.0m) @ 4.44% U3O8
- 5.5m (178.0m to 183.5m) @ 2.41% U3O8, including:
2m (178.0m to 180.0m) @ 4.66% U3O8
Composited % U3O8 mineralized intervals are summarized in Table 1 below. Samples
from the drill core are split in half sections on site. Where possible, samples
are standardized at 0.5m down-hole intervals. One-half of the split sample is
sent to SRC Geoanalytical Laboratories (an SCC ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 Accredited
Facility) in Saskatoon, SK for analysis which includes U3O8 (wt %) and fire
assay for gold, while the other half remains on site for reference. All analysis
include a 63 element ICP-OES, uranium by fluorimetry and boron. All depth
measurements reported, including sample and interval widths are down-hole, core
interval measurements and true thickness are yet to be determined.
PLS Mineralized Trend Summary
Uranium mineralization at PLS has been traced by core drilling over 2.24km of
east-west strike length in five separate mineralized "zones" from line 615W
(PLS13-124) to line 1620E (PLS14-196). From west to east, these zones are;
R600W, R00E, R780E, R1155E and R1620E. The former R390E, R585 and R945E zones
have been merged into the R780E zone by successful winter drilling.
Mineralization remains open along strike both to the western and eastern
extents. Mineralization is both located within and associated with a
metasedimentary lithologic corridor, bounded to the south by the PL-3B basement
Electro-Magnetic (EM) Conductor.
