Multi-system contract awarded at Mohawk College in Canada
MedaPhor Group plc (AIM: MED), the global provider of advanced
ultrasound training simulators for medical professionals, has won a
multi-system ScanTrainer and HeartWorks contract at Mohawk College
in Canada. The college, which runs the largest sonography programme
in Canada and which had already purchased two ScanTrainer systems
in 2014, is installing a further two ScanTrainers and two
HeartWorks systems into its new simulation facility.
Based at the college's Centre for Health Care Simulation, a new
educational and training facility built in collaboration with
McMaster University, the simulators will be embedded into the
general sonography and cardiac imaging curricula to offer students
greater access to experiential learning opportunities and both
common and rare pathology outside of the clinical setting.
Wendy Lawson, Associate Dean, Allied Health, at Mohawk College,
commented: "A growing skills gap, rising student numbers and a
decline in clinical learning opportunities has made simulation the
obvious solution for us to help fulfil our educational objectives.
ScanTrainer students can be introduced to practical scanning
techniques much earlier on in their learning which, in turn,
increases their confidence levels and improves practical
application of those skills in real patient care settings."
Thomas Brown, VP Sales at MedaPhor North America, Inc.
commented: "This is one of the most significant contract wins for
MedaPhor. Customers are recognising the value of our ScanTrainer
and HeartWorks multi-disciplinary product offering that can enhance
educational outcomes for their students. Mohawk is truly innovative
in its approach to education and boasts the largest sonography
cohort in Canada, making this a truly exciting institution to be
working with."
The Centre for Health Care Simulation officially opens on
October 10(th) 2017. For more information visit:
