A group of six telecommunications companies have come together
to create the 5G Future Forum, which will work to develop
interoperable 5G specifications across the globe.
America Movil SAB de CV (AMX), Rogers Communications Inc. (RCI),
KT Corp. (KT), Telstra Corp. Ltd. (TLSYY), Verizon Communications
Inc. (VZ) and Vodafone Group PLC (VOD) are the charter members of
the forum.
The group said participants would work to "develop public and
private marketplaces to enhance developer and customer access to
5G, and will share global best practices in technology
deployment."
Daniel Hajj, chief executive of America Movil, said: "5G is a
powerful unprecedented technology. Through this forum, we will
create a common platform to enable a global ecosystem of
applications to exploit 5G at its full potential, contributing to
the transformation of our societies and economies and reaffirming
customer satisfaction."
