Intesa Sanpaolo SpA will post a capital gain of about 1.1 billion euros ($1.24 billion) in the second quarter in relation to its strategic agreement on payment systems with Nexi SpA.

The Italian bank said Tuesday that the parties have finalized the agreement after receiving the necessary authorizations.

As part of the deal, announced in December, the Italian bank took a 9.9% stake in the payment company.
