Redstone's class act wins 3 year contract extension with exam boards
10 October 2006 - Redstone, a leading provider of IT & Communications solutions
in the UK and Ireland, today announces that its Managed Solutions division has
been awarded a three year contract with exam boards from England, Wales and
N.Ireland expected to generate revenues in the region of #1 million per annum.
Redstone's WebXchange, a high security web-based file transfer system developed
in-house has been selected by a group of leading UK examination boards, for the
secure transfer of examination results.
WebXchange is a highly encrypted Electronic Data Interchange system specifically
adapted to allow educational organisations to transfer large volumes of highly
sensitive results data between examination boards and schools with high levels
of accuracy and speed whilst being cost efficient. WebXchange's encryption and
reporting facilities enable the progress of candidates' results to be tracked
and allow users to ensure that all data is delivered safely to the specified
location.
Last academic year, WebXchange ensured that over 11 million results representing
56% of all results were received by schools in a timely and efficient manner.
The simplicity of the WebXchange system means that it is easily and efficiently
incorporated into an education establishment's existing processes. In order to
operate the system, all that is required is an internet connection and a
standard web browser, along with a user ID for the service. Currently it is the
only product of its kind that does not require an installation of software and
runs solely through a web portal. Further information on the WebXchange system
can be found at: www.webxchange.co.uk.
Martin Balaam, Chief Executive of Redstone commented, "It is very satisfying
that having worked with the examination boards to provide an online secure file
transfer system, we have demonstrated that Redstone can provide the level of
reliability and security that is demanded for the fast transfer of highly
sensitive data.
"This contract represents a key area for Redstone - that of public projects as
well as those in the B2B arena - and this is part of our continued effort to
grow revenues from our business conducted with the public sector"
