Business Wire
RI Research Instruments GmbH, a majority-owned subsidiary of
Bruker Advanced Supercon, Inc., announced today the finalization of
an approximately $4 million contract with Radboud University in
Nijmegen, The Netherlands, for a turn-key infrared free electron
laser (IR FEL) driver.
The contract covers the development, production, installation
and commissioning of an 8-15 MeV pulsed LINAC with parameters
suitable to drive the IR FEL, which will be developed in parallel
by the team at Radboud University.
The contract is the first major order received by RI Research
Instruments GmbH since the formation of this company in connection
with Brukers April 1, 2009 acquisition of the research instruments
business of ACCEL Instruments from Varian Medical Systems.
Dr. Michael Peiniger, Managing Director of RI Research
Instruments, explained: This new contract ideally complements our
work on the 150 MeV LINAC for the Taiwan Photon Source and the
production of S-Band accelerating cavities for the Paul Scherrer
Institut in Switzerland. Besides high micro pulse charge at low
energy spread, the requirements of building a compact and efficient
electron source make this project a new challenge for the teams at
RI Research Instruments and Radboud University. This new LINAC
project demonstrates continuity in serving our customers, and we
are grateful to Radboud University for the confidence expressed in
RI with this order.
