Amdocs Named a Leader in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Operations Support Systems
March 07 2018 - 5:00AM
Amdocs (NASDAQ:DOX), a leading provider of software and services to
communications and media companies, today announced Gartner has
positioned Amdocs as a Leader in its 2018 Magic Quadrant for
Operations Support Systems*. This Gartner Magic Quadrant provides a
snapshot of the market and vendors offering operations support
systems (OSS) solutions for communications service providers (CSPs)
and evaluates them on their completeness of vision and ability to
execute.
“We feel that Gartner positioned Amdocs as a Leader
in recognition of Amdocs’ design of current OSS systems, where the
CSP can realize digital business benefits directly much faster.
These evolutionary steps include the application of
service-oriented, cloud-based architecture, analytics and
automation using machine learning and apply it for the immediate
benefit of customers,” said Anthony Goonetilleke, group president
of Amdocs Technology. “Our recent launch of Amdocs NFV powered by
ONAP (Open Network Automation Platform) is the industry’s first
software and services portfolio to leverage the Linux Foundation’s
ONAP platform, and it enables service providers to accelerate
network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined network
(SDN) service innovation and reap the operational benefits of
virtualization.”
According to Gartner, “Leading vendors in this
Magic Quadrant cover both the traditional OSS and the new OSS
orchestration architectures in the form of SDN/NFV orchestration
solution capabilities. The underlying functionality will be the
same for both worlds. However, architectures will shift from
vertical solution stacks — often purpose-tailored to specific
technologies — to horizontal, fully integrated OSS functionality.
The new OSS orchestration will encompass the same functionality,
encapsulated in pre-integrated, real-time, self-configurable,
metadata-driven architectures.”
Across the 350 communications and media companies
that Amdocs serves, the company had several new wins in the OSS
space this past year. These include NetLink Trust, Singapore’s
nationwide communications infrastructure provider, for a
next-generation BSS and OSS solution to transform its legacy
systems and fully automate order management, service design and
delivery processes and service assurance, and an advanced BSS and
OSS solution at DISH Network Corporation to redefine the experience
for its DISH Business customers, as well as projects with ONAP
early adopters such as AT&T, Bell Canada and Orange.
