The State Auto Insurance Companies’ 91-year legacy of caring and
community service continues through the launch of an “Invest a Day”
Facebook app at www.facebook.com/StateAuto.
Throughout its history, State Auto’s associates and independent
agents have given time, talents and financial resources to support
their local communities. From the Great Depression, when State
Auto’s founder gave away eggs from the front steps of the company’s
headquarters, to this year’s record-breaking contribution to the
United Way, State Auto remains committed to helping its neighbors
in need.
In 2008, the company created the Invest a Day program, which
offers associates one paid day per year to volunteer for a
charitable organization. State Auto is now taking Invest a Day to a
global audience through a Facebook app. The app offers people the
opportunity to share their own stories of community service, and
then encourage their own Facebook friends to give back by sharing
the story on their Facebook Timeline.
“Invest a Day is a concept that is close to the hearts of State
Auto associates. We feel driven to spread our spirit of giving back
beyond our company to others in the community,” said President,
Chairman and CEO Bob Restrepo. “By asking people to share their
stories, we’re hoping to inspire a broader commitment to community
service.”
To help spread the stories shared through the Invest a Day
campaign, State Auto has created @InvestaDay on Twitter and uses
the #InvestaDay hashtag. A video featured within the app
features State Auto associates telling their stories of giving back
through the Invest a Day program.
