A contract worker was found dead from unknown causes at Motiva
Enterprise LLC's refinery in Port Arthur, Texas on April 18,
according to the local sheriff's department.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) reported that an unidentified process unit
shut down unexpectedly at its Los Angeles County oil refinery,
according to filings with state environmental regulators.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said April 18 that a sulfur recovery
unit tripped offline briefly in the morning at the company's
Wilmington, Calif., refinery and caused flaring activity. The unit
is back online and there was no impact to production, spokesman
Bill Day said.
Alon USA Energy Inc. (ALJ) reported emissions from a compressor
outage at its Big Spring, Texas, refinery, according to a filing
with state environmental regulators Tuesday. The incident had no
impact to production.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) reported a unit breakdown at its
Torrance, Calif., refinery Friday, according to a filing with state
environmental regulators. The company did not disclose which unit
is involved, but the incident took place at 5:25 a.m. PDT. Exxon
could not be immediately reached for comment.
Hovensa LLC plans to restart the distillate desulfurizer unit at
its St. Croix refinery next month after completing repairs for
damages caused by a Feb. 11 fire, the company's chief financial
officer said April 15.
BP PLC (BP) reported that planned flaring activity will take
place at its Carson, Calif., refinery on April 18 through April 26,
according to a filing with state environmental regulators.
