Limited Brands Inc. (LTD), which owns Victoria's Secret, said
Thursday it will investigate claims of child labor employed to
produce cotton that is used in some of the lingerie brand's
products, CNN reported on its website.
"We are very concerned," Limited Brands said in a statement,
according to CNN. The company said the cotton in question, from
Burkina Faso, is "used in a small portion of our Victoria's Secret
panty styles."
"If this allegation is true, it describes behavior that is
contrary to our company's values and the code of labor and sourcing
standards that we require all of our suppliers to meet," the
statement said. "These standards expressly prohibit child
labor."
