Cox Employees Surpass $1 Million Relief Fund Goal

Cox Enterprises and Its Employees Show Overwhelming Support for
Those Impacted by this Season's Hurricanes ATLANTA, Nov. 17
/PRNewswire/ -- Cox Enterprises, Inc. announced today that employee
contributions to the Cox Employee Disaster Relief Fund have
surpassed $1 million in employee giving. This brings the fund total
to $2.7 million, including employee giving, the company
dollar-for-dollar match and $643,000 in vendor donations.
"Employees' response to this season's hurricanes has been nothing
short of amazing," said James C. Kennedy, chairman and chief
executive officer of Cox Enterprises. "This tremendous effort by
employees only reinforces the company's commitment to assist in the
relief, recovery and rebuilding of the affected communities." The
Cox Employee Disaster Relief Fund was established in the days
following Hurricane Katrina and has already provided emergency
assistance and basic necessities such as food, clothing and
temporary housing to fellow employees affected by the disaster. Cox
has also committed to a $10 million gift of cash and in-kind
support to assist affected communities. The gift is structured in
the following manner: - A $1,000,000 gift to the American Red Cross
to provide immediate relief for those in need. - A $750,000 gift to
the United Way, shared among the impacted areas. This contribution
will be used for programs to support the recovery efforts of
communities impacted by this disaster. - A $150,000 gift to Habitat
for Humanity to help communities ravaged by the hurricane begin to
rebuild. - A $100,000 gift to Boys & Girls Clubs for support of
programming and continuing education for children in devastated
areas. - An $8 million media commitment from Cox businesses in
donated PSA (public service announcement) air time or space from
Cox Communications, Cox Newspapers, Cox Television and Cox Radio.
These donations will be used to help encourage viewers, listeners
and readers to continue their support for long-term needs. "There
