ST.JOHN'S, May 10, 2016 /CNW/
- On Friday May 6th,
representatives of Anaconda Mining (TSX:ANX) and The Golden Tulip
participated in a ceremony hosted at Government House with the
Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador (CFNL) to launch its "We Remember"
initiative in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of
the Battle of Beaumont Hamel on July 1,
2016.
The "We Remember" initiative will honour the sacrifices of past
generations of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians by supporting the
current generation of men and women who have made the same
commitment to serve our country.
Their Honours the Honourable Frank F. Fagan, CM, ONL, MBA and
Patricia Fagan were presented with
the first two "We Remember" pins in a ceremony at Government House.
This presentation recognizes the Lieutenant Governor's roles as
representative of the Crown, Honorary Colonel of the Royal
Newfoundland Regiment, and patron of CFNL.
CFNL has partnered with local jeweller The Golden Tulip and
Anaconda Mining to produce a limited edition forget-me-not pin made
of sterling silver and certified Newfoundland gold. Proceeds from the sale of
the pin will be donated to CFNL's Maple Leaf Fund, which provides
emergency funding to military service members, veterans, and their
families in Newfoundland and
Labrador through Military Family
Resource Centres in St. John's,
Gander, and Goose Bay.
"This is the first time that jewellery crafted with certified
Newfoundland gold has been
available for purchase. With the province-wide commemoration of the
100th Anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont Hamel,
Anaconda Mining is pleased to donate the gold for this initiative
which acknowledges the sacrifices of the past while also supporting
current military personnel and their families."
~ Allan Cramm, Vice President of
Mining Operations, Anaconda Mining
"We are proud to present the "We Remember" forget-me-not pin in
support of this wonderful cause. Sometimes in business you get a
chance to do some real good. This was an opportunity for us to
design and create a unique heirloom piece that not only
commemorates the fallen but honours the living members of
Newfoundland and Labrador's military. You might say this pin
takes us full circle."
~ Julie and Terry George, Owners,
The Golden Tulip
"The Maple Leaf Fund provides direct support to military
personnel and their families in this province at times when they're
at risk of falling through the cracks. As we look back on the
Battle of Beaumont Hamel, one of the most significant tragedies in
this province's military history, we want to ensure that none of
the military service members in our province today are forgotten or
left behind."
~ Paul McDonald, Chair of CFNL's
Board of Directors

ABOUT ANACONDA MINING
Anaconda Mining is a growth-oriented, gold mining and
exploration company with a producing project called the Point
Rousse Project and an exploration/development project called the
Viking Project in Newfoundland.
The Point Rousse Project is approximately 6,300 hectares of
property on the Ming's Bight Peninsula located in the Baie Verte
Mining District in Newfoundland,
Canada. Since 2012, Anaconda has increased its property
control by ten-fold on the peninsula and gold production to nearly
16,000 ounces per year. In an effort to expand production, it is
currently exploring three primary, prospective gold trends, which
have approximately 20 km of cumulative strike length and include
five deposits and numerous prospects and showings, all within 8 km
of the Pine Cove mill.
Anaconda also controls the Viking Project, which has
approximately 6,225 hectares of property in White Bay, Newfoundland, approximately 100 km by water
(180 km via road) from the Pine Cove mill. The project contains the
Thor Deposit and other gold prospects and showings. The company's
plan is to discover and develop more resources within these project
areas and double annual production at the Pine Cove mill from its
current rate of nearly 16,000 ounces to 30,000 ounces.
As the only pure play gold producer in Atlantic Canada, Anaconda Mining is turning
the rock we live on into a growing and profitable resource. With a
young and motivated workforce, innovative technology and the
support of local suppliers, Anaconda is investing in the people of
Newfoundland & Labrador and
giving back to the communities in which we
operate – building a better future for all our
stakeholders, from the ground up.
