FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Calloway's
Nursery, Inc. (PK: CLWY) today announced that Marce E. Ward has been named President, Chief
Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors effective
January 1, 2015.
James C. Estill, who will
continue to serve Calloway's as Chairman of the Board and Chief
Executive Officer, said, "Marce joined Calloway's as a member of
retail store management when we were opening the first stores in
1987. We have benefited from his contributions as he moved
into positions of ever increasing responsibility to his current
position leading our merchandising and marketing teams. We
are confident that his demonstrated management skills will benefit
Calloway's as the company continues to grow and prosper in the
years to come."
Ward holds a Master of Business Administration degree from
Texas Christian University and earned
an Associate Degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Texas State Technical College. He is a Texas Master
Certified Nursery Professional (TMCNP) and has completed courses
including Total Quality Management, Total Quality Leadership,
Lean Just in Time (JIT), Inventory
Management, and Advanced Study of Herbaceous Perennials.
John T. Cosby, Vice President of
Corporate Development and a Director announced his retirement from
Calloway's effective January 1,
2015.
Mr. Estill stated, "John Cosby,
John Peters and I came together in
1986 and decided to create a new business to serve the gardening
needs of Dallas/Fort Worth.
The reason Calloway's exists today is due to John Cosby providing superior management skills
and real estate expertise in developing garden center structures
together with John Peters'
contribution in the area of recruiting and developing the best
retail garden center teams." John S.
Peters, who will continue to serve Calloway's as Vice
President of Operations, will vacate his position on Calloway's
Board of Directors effective January 1,
2015.
Daniel G. Reynolds, Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer, will fill the vacancy on the
Board of Directors and assume Cosby's Corporate Development
responsibilities. Dan will continue to serve as Vice
President, Secretary of the Board and Chief Financial Officer which
responsibilities include the company's accounting, finance,
administration and information technology. Dan joined
Calloway's in 1990 from his position at KPMG LLP which he had held
since receiving his Certified Public Accounting designation in
1985.
Reynolds earned a Master of Science in Accounting from the
University of Texas at Arlington in
2013, where he previously obtained his Bachelor of Business
Administration degree with honors. He is currently earning
his Master of Business Administration degree. In addition Dan
is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and
Financial Executives International (FEI). Dan was president
of FEI's Fort Worth Chapter and served on its board of
directors.
