Volkswagen AG's (VOW.XE) truck unit Traton SE (8TRA.BE) is moving into Germany's SDAX index, which is comprised of 70 small and medium-sized companies.

"After our successful IPO in June, we are now looking forward to our planned inclusion in the SDAX," Chief Financial Officer Christian Schulz said Thursday.

Traton comprises the MAN, Scania, Volkswagen Caminhoes e Onibus and Rio brands. The unit's current market capitalization is about 11.3 billion euros ($12.4 billion), of which 10.3% is free float, with Volkswagen holding the remaining shares, the car maker said.
