Deutsche Boerse AG said late Thursday that a group of Iran
judgment creditors filed a complaint in the United States District
Court for the Southern District of New York naming its subsidiary
Clearstream Banking S.A.
The operator of the German stock exchange said the complaint
also names Iran, the Central Bank of Iran and other financial
institutions.
The complaint requires Clearstream to surrender assets alleged
to be attributed to Bank Markazi, Deutsche Boerse said.
"Clearstream considers any claims for damages against it in this
context to be unfounded and will take all necessary and appropriate
measures to decisively defeat such claims," Deutsche Boerse
said.
Iran judgment creditors are a group of entities that were
awarded around $8.7 billion in damages based on terroristic acts
attributed to Iran and other entities in 2014. The group has
brought in actions under the terrorism exception to the U.S.
Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
