Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Les Parrette, was honored as one of six General
Counsels in America who have been named 2012 "Legends in the Law"
at the prestigious Burton Awards. Parrette is also Corporate
Secretary and Compliance Officer for the global aluminum
company.

The award was presented last night during a black-tie gala held
at the Library of Congress in Washington,
D.C., attended by dignitaries including U.S. Supreme Court
Justices, top law firm partners, law school deans, and leading
professors from across the nation. The Burton Awards, which are
patterned after the Pulitzers, are one of the most prominent awards
in the U.S. legal field.

Mr. Parrette supervises a team of 35 legal professionals at

administration of contracts; international and domestic securities
law; and corporate governance and compliance requirements.
Mr. Parrette rejoined Novelis in October
2009 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate
Secretary, and Compliance Officer, a position he held previously
from 2005 to early 2009. He holds an A.B. degree in Sociology from
Harvard College and a Juris
Doctorate in Law from Harvard Law
School.
The "Legends in the Law" award is given annually to the General
Counsel of a company with gross revenues of more than $1 billion whose reputation in both the legal
profession and as a proven authority in a specialized area of law
is considered superior. Nominations were received from managing
partners of the top 1,000 law firms. The Burton Foundation is
a not-for-profit academic organization run in association with the
Library of Congress.
