BUDAPEST--Hungary's largest telecommunications company, Magyar
Telekom Nyrt. (MTELEKOM.BU), is considering taking part in the
acquisition of Slovenia's incumbent telecommunications firm, the
Hungarian firm's deputy chief executive told reporters
Thursday.
Magyar Telekom is the Hungarian arm of Germany's Deutsche
Telekom AG (DTE.XE).
Janos Szabo, Magyar Telekom's deputy CEO and chief financial
officer, said Deutsche Telekom may be weighing the possibility of
submitting a bid in an eventual privatization tender of the
Slovenian company, but noted he could not speak on the behalf of
the group and stressed he was citing Slovenian press reports.
He said Deutsche Telekom could even take part in the process
through its Croatian arm T-Hrvatski Group.
