Microsoft Corp. and Repsol SA are expanding their partnership on
energy transition and digital innovation, with the Spanish energy
company agreeing to provide Microsoft with renewable energy in
Europe while expanding its use of Microsoft cloud solutions.
Repsol said Wednesday that it would provide a long-term supply
of renewable wind and solar power to Microsoft operations in
Europe, a development that is expected to support Microsoft's
ambition to source 100% of its energy supply from renewable sources
by 2025.
The two companies will also cooperate on the creation of
artificial-intelligence-powered digital solutions, Repsol said.
"The extension of our collaboration and the supply of renewable
energy undoubtedly reaffirms the vision that both companies share
about sustainability and how digitalization will transform the
energy sector," Repsol Chief Executive Josu Jon Imaz said.
