Siemens has acquired Spanish software company BuntPlanet as it seeks to expand its artificial intelligence offerings, it said Tuesday.

The company makes software that assists with metering, water quality, reducing water loss and uses artificial intelligence for detecting water-network leaks.

The German industrial group said that BuntPlanet has been a 100 percent subsidiary of Siemens Spain since Friday, the company said.

Siemens has had a licensing agreement with the San Sebastian-based company to sell its SIWA LeakPlus software since 2019.

"Once the integration has fully concluded, Siemens will make BuntPlanet's offering also available on its open business platform, Siemens Xcelerator," the company said.
