                        APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


ALPHA Airports Group Plc ("Alpha"), one of the UK's leading airport retailers
and flight caterers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Lesley James,
as a non-executive director of the Company, with effect from 1 September 2002.

Lesley James, 53, with 30 years' experience in the field of retailing and human
resources, brings significant business and PLC retail sector experience to the
Board of Alpha. Until 1999, Lesley was Director of Human Resources at Tesco PLC
("Tesco") and was also on the Main Board of Tesco. Since leaving Tesco in 1999,
Lesley has developed a wide range of business and charitable interests and is
currently a non-executive director of Selfridges PLC, Queens Moat Houses PLC,
West Bromwich Building Society and Care UK PLC.

Commenting on Lesley James' appointment, Graham Frost, Non-Executive Chairman of
Alpha said:
