On the afternoon of 27 September 2004, it was intimated to Axis-Shield plc that
Svein Lien, Chief Executive of Axis-Shield plc purchased 14,000 Ordinary Shares
of Axis-Shield plc at a price of NOK 23.66 per share on 27 September 2004. This
increases his shareholding to 154,567 Ordinary Shares from 140,567 Ordinary
Shares.

This announcement requires to be made on the London Stock Exchange and is
repeated in Norway for Oslo Stock Exchange purposes in accordance with the
