The following alteration has been made to the BTR PLC PURCHASE OF OWN
SECURITIES announcement released today. In the text the company name was 
incorrectly typed as BRT plc.  This has now been amended - all other details
remain unchanged.

                    PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES 


BTR plc announces that it has today purchased for cancellation 13,805,258 of its
ordinary shares from Cazenove & Co. at a price of 100.6493 pence per share.
