APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE

The Board are pleased to announce that David Patrick has been appointed Chief
Executive of the company with effect from 18 May 1998.  David Makin will
assume the position of Buying and Marketing Director.  The expansion of the
company has resulted in a requirement for an increased segregation of duties
and this appointment provides a strong basis for further growth.

David Patrick, aged 42, previously held the position of Managing Director of
Stylo Instep Ltd, a subsidiary of Stylo Plc.  He has been engaged by the Stylo
Group since 1977 and was appointed Sales Director of Stylo Barratt Shoes Ltd
in 1992.  He has been influential in the development and growth of the Stylo
Instep retail format.

Commenting on the appointment, John Wardle, Chairman, stated "I am delighted
to welcome David Patrick to the Board and I am confident that his attributes
and experience will suitably complement the strengths of the existing Board. 
I am sure that he will contribute significantly to the continued development
of the company.
