LOS ANGELES, CA announced today that it signed a binding letter
of intent for the "marketing rights" of Airship Surveillance LTD.
(http://airshipsurveillance.com/) The terms were not disclosed.
The principles of Airship Surveillance have a total of over 45
years combined experience in the fields of airship design,
development, certification and operations. The team has developed
an advanced series of unmanned airships that are capable of
impressive performance while at the same time being simple and
economic to operate and support. The result is the LASSOE series of
three airships designed to provide a wide range of mission
capabilities.
These airships can be equipped with a variety of sensors and
analytical systems as well as transmitters and receivers for a
range of uses -- civilian, government (e.g. traffic monitoring),
military (e.g. mine detection) and scientific research. Compared to
helicopters and aircraft, airships have a significant operational
cost advantage where persistent monitoring is required, and
compared with satellites; airships offer real-time and more precise
monitoring of areas of interest. Airships also have advantages for
several applications because of their low noise and vibration
levels.
Unmanned airships are increasingly being used for various
applications. The potential applications include: border patrol,
homeland security, coastal waters patrol, urban surveillance,
remote wide area surveillance, battlefield surveillance, wildfire
detection & prevention, communication relay, resources
management, environmental monitoring and scientific research.
