Following the three-year extension of STARLUX’s “Proud Partner
designation” and its new role as the Dodgers’ “Exclusive Taiwanese
Airline,” the partners commemorated their successful collaboration
with STARLUX Night. The Dodgers’ Taiwanese ties date back to 2002,
when the iconic team welcomed its first Taiwan-born player. Now,
20+ years later, it welcomed its first Taiwanese airline
partner.
STARLUX Night kicked off with a ceremonial first pitch by former
Taiwanese Dodger All-Star pitcher Hong-Chih Kuo — the first
Taiwanese player to hit a home run in MLB. Kuo returned to the
Dodgers’ pitcher’s mound to deliver a fastball across home plate
before an enthusiastic crowd. Additionally, two lucky fans became
winners of STARLUX’s roundtrip airline ticket giveaway, including
two premium economy tickets and business class tickets, announced
after the second and fourth innings, respectively.
STARLUX’s presence also expanded to pre- and post-game
festivities off the field. Flight attendants welcomed fans to
Centerfield Plaza with alcohol-free versions of STARLUX’s signature
in-flight Sci-Fi Cosmos, served at the carrier’s booth featuring
free giveaways like flight tags and Dodgers playing cards. To cap
off the evening, a “Friday Night Light” drone show illuminated
Dodger Stadium, culminating in a showstopping display of the
STARLUX plane and logo.
“Our Dodgers stadium activation embodies STARLUX’s unwavering
dedication to Los Angeles, our inaugural US destination, where
we’ve proudly been providing non-stop flight service since April
2023 to and from Taiwan,” said Glenn Chai, STARLUX CEO. “We are
immensely grateful to our rapidly growing Los Angeles- and US-based
passengers who have embraced their first flights with STARLUX,
become our loyal customers, and have allowed us to become their
go-to carrier for transpacific travel.”
“It was great to celebrate our ongoing partnership with STARLUX
at Friday’s Dodger game,” said Lorenzo Sciarrino Senior Vice
President, Global Partnerships, Los Angeles Dodgers. “We have
enjoyed a loyal and rewarding relationship with STARLUX and we look
forward to creating many more positive memories and interactions in
the coming years.”
STARLUX night capped an exciting week that also saw the Dodgers
sign 17-year-old Taiwanese outfielder Ko Ching-Hsien to a
significant contract.
About Dodger Stadium
Opened in 1962, Dodger Stadium — aka “Blue Heaven on Earth” — is
not only baseball’s third oldest stadium, but also the largest
stadium in the MLB with a seating capacity of 56,000. It stands as
one of the most unique and picturesque settings in sports, carved
as it is into the hillside of Chavez Ravine overlooking downtown LA
to the south and the San Gabriel mountains to the north.
On April 10, 1962, the Dodgers played their very first game here
against the Cincinnati Reds. This game attracted more than 52,000
fans. Dodger Stadium remains one of the game's most beautiful and
most historic venues.
