Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) expects to restart "shortly" the crude
distillation unit it was forced to shut in the Italian refinery of
Trecate after a fire, said a company official Wednesday.
The company shut the crude distillation unit at Trecate after a
"small" fire Tuesday and is investigating the matter, said Piero
Biscari, head of Esso Italiana's external relations.
The refinery's other crude distillation unit is covering the
facility's output obligations.
Biscari said there were no injuries resulting from the fire,
which lasted 30 minutes.
Trecate produces about 7% of Italian oil products with 7 million
metric tons of crude, according to the website of the Exxon's
Italian subsidiary.
Exxon owns 74.1% of Trecate, while ERG SpA (ERG.MI) holds the
remaining 25.9%.
