International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower on Thursday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts fell 0.3% to 126.61. The European index decreased 0.4% to 118.30, the Asian index fell 0.6% to 151.48, the Latin American index rose 2.1% to 187.95 and the emerging markets index decreased 0.6% to 263.37.

Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA and GSK PLC were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.

ADRs of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA fell 1.8% after the company said it received all outstanding regulatory approvals for its acquisition of U.S. peer GCP Applied Technologies Inc. The all-cash deal, previously valued at $2.3 billion, will be completed next week.

ADRs of GSK PLC rose 0.8% after the company said it signed an exclusive license agreement with Spero Therapeutics Inc. to commercialize tebipenem HBr, an antibiotic that may treat complicated urinary tract infections. The potential treatment is currently in late-stage studies.
