TeleCommunication Systems Announces Speakers for National Emergency Numbering Association 9-1-1 Conference
June 04 2008 - 10:15AM
Marketwired
ANNAPOLIS, MD (NASDAQ: TSYS), a leading provider of
mission-critical wireless communications, today announced that
several of its subject matter experts are speaking at the National
Emergency Number Association's (NENA) 27th Annual 9-1-1 Conference
& Trade Show from June 7-12, 2008 in Tampa Bay, Florida. The
TCS industry veterans are participating in vendor presentations and
panels addressing 9-1-1 emergency communications issues. NENA
fosters the technological advancement, availability, and
implementation of a universal emergency telephone number system;
and every year, more than 2,000 industry professionals attend this
premier event.
TCS experts will address six different topics including Next
Generation (NG) 9-1-1 strategies, Voice over Internet Protocol
(VoIP), and 9-1-1 funding models. Specific topics, speakers and
times are listed below.
-- "Next Generation 9-1-1 Implementation Strategies Showcase"
June 9, 2008, 11:15am-12:00pm EDT
Todd Poremba, Product Manager of Next Generation 9-1-1 for TCS, will
speak about Next Generation 9-1-1 features that could be delivered to
PSAPs today. While NENA continues to define a complete i3 system, some
features are already defined and ready to be implemented. This session
will discuss the possibilities for immediate and near-term deployment.
-- "VoIP - ALI Data from Multiline Telephone systems: the IP Solution"
June 10, 2008, 8:30am-9:30am EDT
TCS Product Manager of VoIP Technologies, Firdaus Aryana, is presenting
on how IP-based 9-1-1 solutions for multiline telephone systems (MTLS)
work and what features they should provide. States are gradually
recognizing the challenges of responding to MTLS calls to 9-1-1, and
many states now require that these systems provide specific caller
location data to the Automatic Line Identification (ALI) database. The
technology for implementing these requirements has become increasingly
effective as more companies turn to IP-based PBX systems.
-- "NG9-1-1 Requirements, Development, Standards and Benefits"
June 10, 2008, 8:30am-9:30am EDT
Roger Marshall, Senior Technical Staff Member at TCS, is participating
in this panel session, which describes NENA and NENA-related work to
define NG9-1-1 requirements, the extent of standards development to
date, and the expected benefits of these standards in driving common
features and interoperability within and between future NG9-1-1
systems. This session will include discussion of the flexibility
designed into NG9-1-1 for 9-1-1 Authority operational controls.
-- "Alternative Funding Models To Keep Up With Technology"
June 10, 2008, 1:30pm-2:30pm EDT
On this panel, Dick Dickinson, Senior Director of Public Safety at TCS,
provides insight into the following questions: Is the current 9-1-1
surcharge model working? Will current models be able to pay for today's
costs and enable the migration to NG9-1-1? Can PSAP costs be shared
with other emergency communications functions in an NG environment? If
so, which costs can be shared and what is the funding model? What are
the funding model alternatives?
-- "Evolutionary Approaches to NG PSAPs and Interfaces (Part I)"
June 10, 2008, 1:30pm-2:30pm EDT
TCS Product Manager of Next Generation 9-1-1 Todd Poremba will
participate on this panel to discuss the recent trend around the
considerable development both of the NG9-1-1 PSAP concept and of the
actual components driving it. With the advent of call routing based not
only on location but also on accompanying data, expanded capabilities
exist to improve call routing. This session delves into the details
surrounding this new approach.
-- "Location Verification and Routing Data for NG9-1-1"
June 11, 2008, 9:45am-10:45am EDT
NG9-1-1 is coming and there are several efforts that PSAPs need to
begin working on and coordinating. TCS Senior Technical Staff Member,
Roger Marshall, and Nate Wilcox with microDATA GIS host an open and
interactive discussion that should help identify these needs and bring
forth any issues.
