With more than 50 billion devices predicted to be connected to a
multi-disciplinary ecosystem in 2020, intelligent connectivity
turns the vehicle into a service provider that knows the needs of
its occupants and can offer assistance.
Visteon's advanced connectivity solutions are designed for
intuitive operation, significantly reducing driver workload and
allowing the driver and passengers to benefit from connected
vehicle features while mitigating distraction.
Premiering at the event is Visteon's OpenAir™ brand of connected
premium audio and infotainment products based on open architecture,
human-machine interaction (HMI) command and controls, and off-board
wireless data connections. OpenAir™ delivers flexible multi-device
connectivity and advanced infotainment solutions while managing
content to deliver a rich user experience. The range's OpenAir™
I1.0 infotainment product offers superior performance and features
for its segment.
Visteon's OpenAir™ A1.0 connected audio solution was recently
launched for a global vehicle manufacturer. Delivering Bluetooth®,
voice control and integrated smartphone connection to Cloud
applications, this tailored solution is being used across multiple,
high-volume vehicle platforms.
The OpenAir™ connected vehicle demonstrator, developed in
partnership with Compuware, delivers a ground-breaking connected
vehicle software framework that produces an HMI experience
anticipating a driver's need. Combining behavioral data and driver
preferences with apps and environmental input, the HMI
intelligently prioritizes data by displaying the most timely and
relevant information.
"Industry forecasts predict more than 150 million connected cars
on the road by 2020," said Martin T.
Thall, president, Visteon Electronics. "Visteon is committed
to delivering connected automotive technologies for drivers and
passengers which extend their digital lifestyles on the road –
simply and safely."
Also making its debut at the show, Visteon's OASIS concept – an
acronym for optimized, adaptable, secure, intelligent and seamless
connectivity – protects the vehicle communication network by
ensuring vehicle connectivity to the user and Cloud
computing. A secure data pipe actively switches methods (modem,
phone tether or Wi-Fi®) to maintain a seamless connected experience
to the Cloud. The cockpit is adaptable through personalization
options, off-board computing and over-the-air updates. Visteon
collaborated with Cisco on this advanced development project.
For connectivity "outside" the automobile, vehicle-to-vehicle or
vehicle-to-infrastructure communications – known as V2X – offer
significant potential for increased vehicle safety by dynamically
sharing relevant information with other similarly equipped
vehicles. Introducing an application-ready V2X platform,
Visteon's solution is designed to maximize the communications range
and more quickly notify drivers of possible issues nearby.
Visteon's exhibit is located in Central Plaza #20, at the
Las Vegas Convention Center.
