Retailer will showcase how it leverages Zebra to streamline store operations and associate task communications

Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA) a global leader in digitizing and automating frontline workflows, today announced Rack Room Shoes is operating with greater efficiency leveraging Zebra’s Workcloud Task Management software and mobile computing solutions. The retailer will demo the positive impact these technologies are having on its retail performance in booth #3303 at NRF 2025 Retail’s Big Show on Jan. 12-14, 2025, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Rack Room Shoes CIO Brian Minnix will also present in a Big Ideas Session: “Walking the Talk with Effective Task Management” on Jan. 13 at 1:30 p.m. ET – Expo Level 3, Stage 3.

For a century, Rack Room Shoes, with more than 500 stores across 36 states, has been committed to offering high-quality, brand-name footwear at competitive prices while ensuring exceptional customer service. To maintain its commitment, the retailer needed to streamline its operations and overcome communication bottlenecks so its store associates could be more productive and accelerate task execution.

Communication between corporate and store employees previously occurred exclusively via email. This made it very difficult to convey any changes after communications were sent, so store teams would often execute tasks based on outdated directives and struggle to forecast daily work. Rack Room Shoes selected Zebra Workcloud Task Management software to make it easy for store employees to see assigned tasks in a calendar view on their Zebra mobile devices. Corporate teams can also monitor stores’ task completion progress in the same software app.

“Having the right technology is central to delivering a modern store experience to our customers, and working with Zebra Technologies has had a positive impact on our store operations,” said Brian Minnix, CIO, Rack Room Shoes. “Despite a fourfold increase in task volume since 2018, our efficiency has soared, with task completion rates reaching 95% since adopting Zebra’s integrated solutions. Zebra’s software and mobile computers have empowered our store associates to perform at a higher level, allowing them to concentrate on what is most important, elevating customer service.”

According to Zebra’s 17th Annual Global Shopper Study, seven in 10 shoppers say it is difficult to find an associate to help them in stores and are concerned about the lack of help they receive. The study also found nearly 90% of retailers and associates said getting the right communications to the right people is a challenge, and managers often struggle to determine if essential work has been completed.

Mobilizing store teams with Zebra’s Workcloud Task Management software and mobile computing solutions has helped Rack Room Shoes ensure associates remain visible, accessible, and uninhibited on the store floor.

“We are happy to see Zebra’s software and mobile computers unlock so many opportunities for Rack Room Shoes teams to better serve their customers,” said Suresh Menon, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Software Solutions, Zebra Technologies. “We look forward to continuing to work with Rack Room Shoes to further engage mobilized associates, streamline communications, and consistently improve shoppers’ experiences.”
