Location at I-70 and Ind. 9 within Greenfield City Limits
GREENFIELD, Ind., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Elanco, a
global animal health company, announced today that it has chosen a
site at I-70 and Ind. 9 as the location for its new worldwide
headquarters. Construction on the state-of-the-art facility, set to
begin in March 2009, marks the launch of a 52-acre business and
life sciences park being developed by Browning Investments. "We are
excited to not only stay in Hancock County, but also to be
residents of the City of Greenfield," said Jeff Simmons, president
of Elanco, a division of Eli Lilly and Company. "This location
plays a key role in providing Elanco employees a great new home, as
well as a strong identity and presence in the city. It also gives
our customers a great place to visit. "The new Elanco headquarters
will centralize the company's operations, while saving us at least
$1 million in annual operating expenses," Simmons added. "This is a
vital step in our goal to be a top global animal health company,
and we look forward to a long, successful relationship with
Greenfield." The new headquarters will be owned, built and managed
by Browning, one of the Midwest's leading commercial development
companies. The Elanco headquarters will encompass about 135,000
square feet over 20 acres within the Browning park. Elanco's global
headquarters is the first project in the new business park, and
will launch the development of 32 remaining acres for additional
development within this campus. The park, when completed, could
accommodate up to 400,000 square feet of business space. "We are
proud to provide Elanco with a terrific life sciences facility to
accommodate its needs, now and going forward," said Dale Pfeifer,
director of real estate development for Browning. "The park's
proximity to I-70 and Greenfield amenities, along with the city's
commitment to infrastructure improvements, will be a powerful draw
for more businesses to come to Greenfield, as well as for companies
that want easy access to Indianapolis." Several Hancock County
sites were under consideration, but Elanco and Browning credited
the strong support and responsiveness of Mayor Brad DeReamer and
his staff for helping the City of Greenfield to win the bid for the
new business park. "I am pleased that Elanco chose Greenfield for
its worldwide headquarters," said DeReamer. "Elanco represents the
best in corporate stewardship, growth for the future, and
diversification of the city's economic base. I appreciate the rapid
response of my team, led by city engineer Mike Fruth, in meeting
Elanco's needs, and enjoy the relationship we've established with
Elanco leadership. "I have worked many years in my professional
career with Browning and know that its development of the business
park will be of exemplary standards and support the high-value jobs
we need in Greenfield," DeReamer added. The Greenfield project is
one of seven major developments Browning has underway. CB Richard
Ellis ("CBRE") represented Elanco in the real estate transaction,
and will serve as the exclusive listing agent for the new business
center. Elanco has expanded in recent years in both sales and
product offerings, posting revenues of nearly $1 billion in 2007.
Elanco also recently launched the Lilly Companion Animal Health
division, acquired Ivy Animal Health and, most recently, announced
its acquisition of Posilac(R), an important dairy supplement.
Recently, Elanco announced plans to move from its current location
at Greenfield Laboratories off U.S. 40 and Meridian Road. The site
has been sold to Covance, a life sciences company. Until the new
Elanco headquarters are completed in spring 2010, Elanco will lease
its existing space from Covance. About Elanco Elanco is a global
