Free event hosted by The Standard connects nonprofits with volunteers and supporters

On Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, Cincinnati’s largest volunteer expo returns to Fountain Square for its fourth year. The Standard’s Volunteer Expo is a free event that brings more than 40 nonprofits together in one place, helping Cincinnatians discover volunteer and donation opportunities that fit their skills and interests.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Volunteer Expo attendees can meet with and learn about nonprofits that make a difference in the community. Participating organizations represent a wide variety of focus areas including arts, culture, humanities, the environment, animal welfare, health, human services and more. Whether you’re looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity or a longer-term commitment, the Volunteer Expo is a great way to connect with nonprofits and start making a difference.

“The nonprofit organizations featured at the Volunteer Expo have an invaluable affect on our communities, and they count on the public’s support and involvement to achieve their missions,” said Greg Ness, chairman, president and CEO of The Standard. “At The Standard, we’re proud to host the annual Volunteer Expo because when business, nonprofits and community members connect, everyone wins.”

In partnership with Power Inspires Progress, the Venice on Vine pizza parlor will be back at the 2014 Volunteer Expo, offering free slice of pizza to attendees who connect with five or more nonprofits during the event. Pick up a Connect Card on arrival at the event and collect stamps as you visit the nonprofit booths. Those who collect at least five stamps can redeem them for free slices of pizza at Venice on Vine!

The Volunteer Expo kicks off The Standard’s annual Employee Giving Campaign. The campaign takes place Sept. 8 through 26 and encourages company employees to support nonprofit organizations of their choosing. The Standard matches those contributions up to $5,000 per employee. Last year, employees raised more than $1.6 million (including The Standard’s dollar-for-dollar match), supporting more than 1,100 organizations.

The 2014 Volunteer Expo takes place Thursday, Sept. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Fountain Square, located at the intersection of Fifth Street and Vine in downtown Cincinnati. Learn more at www.standard.com/volunteer.
