County chooses additional Odyssey products to
integrate justice processes
Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a contract with
Kern County, California, for Tyler’s Odyssey® integrated criminal
justice (ICJ) solution. The agreement, valued at approximately $5
million, includes software licenses, related professional services,
maintenance and support.
Odyssey will be implemented in four Kern County criminal justice
departments, including the Probation Department, District
Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office and the Sheriff’s
Office jail. The county’s Odyssey ICJ agreement allows it to join
the Kern Superior Court’s current Odyssey implementation project
for criminal case processing, which will be coordinated and
conducted in parallel. With the selection of Odyssey, Kern Superior
Court and county justice agencies will operate on a single platform
that will significantly streamline criminal justice processes and
allow agencies to more effectively share information with one
another.
Tyler’s Odyssey Jail Manager™ will be implemented within the
Sheriff’s Office jail facilities and the Probation Department’s
juvenile detention facilities. The system, which handles all
aspects of inmate processing, is built on an enterprisewide
database and is designed to automatically share information with
fully integrated product centers within the Odyssey suite. Odyssey
Supervision™ is an integrated pretrial and probation management
system that will be implemented in the Probation Department to
address adult and juvenile probation processes. Odyssey Attorney
Manager™ will be implemented in both the Kern County District
Attorney’s and Public Defender’s offices to provide case tracking
features and secure electronic data sharing capabilities. Kern
County will also benefit from Tyler dataXchange™, which provides
immediate access to records and real-time information sharing
across jurisdictions and justice agencies.
“We are proud to have proven ourselves with California clients
like Kern to the point that they have confidence to expand their
use of Odyssey. Tyler has successfully implemented Odyssey on
budget in six California counties during the past 18 months, and
has a dozen others scheduled to go live later this year,” said
Bruce Graham, president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division.
“Our integrated criminal justice approach has been successful in
Texas, Florida, Georgia and other states, and we are excited about
the opportunity to bring similar efficiencies to probation
departments, jails and prosecutors’ offices in California.”
Kern County has a population of approximately 864,000 and its
current jail facility houses more than 2,800 beds. The county is
located at the southern end of California’s Central Valley, just
north of Los Angeles County, and its county seat is the city of
Bakersfield.
In total, Odyssey serves more than 100 million residents, a
third of the U.S. population, in more than 600 counties across 21
states. Odyssey has been successfully deployed statewide in
Indiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota and
South Dakota; statewide implementations in Idaho, Maryland, Oregon,
Rhode Island and Washington are currently underway.
