LAC...$4.50...Beauty News...🥳October 28, 2024 04:34 PM Eastern Daylight Time
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lithium Americas Corp. (TSX: LAC) (NYSE: LAC) (β€œLithium Americas” or the β€œCompany”) is pleased to announce the closing of a $2.26 billion loan from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (β€œDOE”) Loan Programs Office (β€œLPO”) under the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (β€œATVM”) Loan Program (the β€œDOE Loan”) for financing the construction of the processing facilities at Thacker Pass, located in Humboldt County, Nevada (β€œThacker Pass” or the β€œProject”).

HIGHLIGHTS

The DOE Loan for $2.26 billion will have interest rates fixed from the date of each monthly advance for the term of the loan at applicable U.S. Treasury rates. The DOE Loan amount includes funding of interest accrued during construction.
The DOE Loan will help finance the construction of Thacker Pass, targeted to produce an initial 40,000 tonnes per annum (β€œtpa”) of battery-quality lithium carbonate (β€œPhase 1”). The Company is targeting to make the final investment decision (β€œFID”) and issue full notice to proceed (β€œFNTP”) by the end of the year.
Thacker Pass Phase 1 is expected to create approximately 1,800 direct jobs during its three-year construction period and approximately 360 full time jobs during operations for its 40-year mine life.
Thacker Pass supports the U.S. government’s commitment to securing a domestic supply chain for critical minerals to reduce reliance on foreign materials.
The DOE Loan will be supplemented by the investment agreement (β€œInvestment Agreement”) announced on October 16, 2024 with General Motors Holdings LLC (β€œGM”) to establish a joint venture (β€œJV”) for the purpose of funding, developing, constructing and operating (β€œJV Transaction”) Thacker Pass. Under the terms of the Investment Agreement, GM will acquire a 38% asset-level ownership stake in Thacker Pass for $625 million in total cash and letters of credit, including a $195 million letter of credit facility (β€œLC Facility”) that can be used as collateral to support reserve account requirements under the DOE Loan.
β€œWe’re pleased to have the Department of Energy’s support to advance Thacker Pass to production and significantly improve domestic output of critical lithium supply to meet the growing domestic need,” said Jonathan Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lithium Americas. β€œThis essential loan helps us reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and secure America’s energy future.”

Mr. Evans added, β€œWe have substantially de-risked project financing for Phase 1 and continue to work closely with General Motors following our announcement of the asset-level joint venture. We deeply appreciate the U.S. government’s support as we develop Thacker Pass to become North America’s largest lithium operator and continue collaborating with all our stakeholders to bring shared success for our company, local communities and our country.”

It's my understanding we are at bottom and the only direction form here is up for some of these companies. I understand Buffet owns a large stake in LAAC. I'm up 35%.

Let’s see if LAAC can hold profits today.
Don’t forget LAAC has deal with Ganfeng.
Ganfeng has deal with Tesla.
Let’s hope that Lithium has found the bottom and ready to rebound.

News about China and decrease in lithium exports.
Nice move today with LAAC. Is this the beginning for Lithium stocks to rebound?

Wrong chart, all lithium is following this. This chart indicates the bottom is and has been in for lithium. Now the manipulation will be continued while china (and all of the other big players) can absorb companies who can not weather the low prices for pennies on the dollar. Miners with debt are in trouble. The strong will survive to participate in a lithium run that makes the last one look like peanuts IMO.

This morning both LAC and LAAC at $6. a share. Not sure who the expert was that made the decision on the % amount to assign to each in October, but hope he or she has been ushered out the door.

What's going on with the LAAC? When I look up LAC on Fidelity, it shows LITHIUM AMERICAS CORP $6.91.
When I look up LAAC on Fidelity, it shows LITHIUM AMERICAS (ARGENTINA) CORP, at $5.57. Anybody know what's the deal? Why did IHUB change over to LAAC?

πŸ‘οΈ0
wise2u wise2u 1 year ago
The split itself was a bit questionable. The percentages afforded to each segmant has given much concern to many. It looks like LAAC is barely holding its own, but LAC has fallen on its face. Not sure how Corp. is going to explain this. I realize the reduction in Lithium prices has a major affect, but this drop is utterly ridiculous. IMHO
