American Scientific Resources, Inc. (OTCBB:ASFX) (“American Scientific”) today announced that it has received a second purchase order from Syner-Med (Pharmaceutical Products) Ltd., its distributor in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland, for 5,000 VeraTemp® non-contact thermometers for the retail market and 1,000 VeraTemp+® for the professional and clinical market, to be shipped this quarter. The order represents as increase of one thousand units over their initial order received only three months ago. Every major pharmacy and drug store retailer in the UK and Ireland are being targeted and commitments have already been received from several. The VeraTemp® Non-Contact thermometers will soon be on the shelves in pharmacies and retailers across the UK and Ireland.

The VeraTemp® thermometer uses the most advanced thermometry technology to record an individual’s temperature without touching the patient’s skin by simply by pointing the device at the forehead and pressing a button. With the VeraTemp®, there is no need to wake, startle or upset the patient when taking their temperature. The VeraTemp® is 100% hygienic and requires no probe covers; saving unnecessary expense and waste. Moreover, the VeraTemp+® helps Infection Control initiatives by eliminating the risk of cross contamination between patients.

Unlike aged technologies such as oral, ear or rectal thermometers, which require being placed into a body orifice to gain a temperature reading – or the full contact types that require being run across an individual’s forehead -- the VeraTemp® is a completely non-contact, non/invasive thermometer, that finally puts an end to the unnecessary expense, handling and disposal of single use probe covers. The VeraTemp® unit is about the size of a remote control and is powered by two included AAA batteries. To measure a person’s body temperature, simply aim at the individual’s forehead and press the Scan button. In an instant, the VeraTemp® measures the forehead and ambient temperature, completes thousands of calculations with a proprietary algorithm, and produces an accurate body temperature reading. The non-contact nature of the VeraTemp® enables the users to also take accurate temperature of objects like babies’ bottle, bath water, food or nursery. The VeraTemp® displays its readings on a large back-lit LCD screen, reads temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit, has an Auto-off feature to conserve battery life and has a built in memory that records the last 32 readings taken.
