$GCEH News: Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc., and Bayer Announce Strategic Collaboration to Promote Camelina Cultivation in Argentina as Part of Bayer's PRO Carbono Program
Press Release | 05/02/2024

Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc., and Bayer announced today a strategic collaboration to promote camelina cultivation as part of Argentina Bayer's PRO Carbono Program, in line with the companies' efforts to drive decarbonization in the supply chain and, ultimately, more efficient and sustainable agricultural production.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20240502159694/en/

Camelina is used as an ultra-low carbon feedstock for advanced biofuels production. It is an β€œintermediate crop” planted between main crops in Argentina during winter, helping to preserve soil health, especially between summer crops of soy and corn. It is already promoted in Argentina by LDC and Global Clean Energy, as part of their strategic collaboration since 2023.

The collaboration announced today is aligned with LDC's global sustainability strategy, a key focus of which is to contribute to global climate goals by driving decarbonization in its operations and supply chains, including through efforts to drive adoption of regenerative agriculture practices in key supply sheds.

β€œThis collaboration is an important step toward more sustainable agricultural production in Argentina and is in line with LDC’s collaborative approach to sustainable business, taking into account the needs and challenges of all value chain participants - particularly producers, on whom the global food and agricultural system depends and whose actions have such an important role in mitigating climate change,” said Juan JosΓ© Blanchard, LDC’s Group COO and Head of Latin America.

Global Clean Energy is the world’s leading camelina producer, with over 18 years of camelina breeding history and more than 65,000 acres contracted in the US, South America, and Europe in 2023. Global Clean Energy is dedicated to developing and offering the most adaptable and high-yielding camelina varieties for producers, with an exclusive collection of 20 camelina varieties, including those suited for both spring and winter planting. The company is currently developing new traits (including herbicide tolerance) to introduce camelina cultivation across a wide range of geographies and crop rotations.

Global Clean Energy has partnered with LDC to advance camelina production in South America through superior genetics delivery, camelina seed production, crop promotion, and technical support to producers through its Camelina Company brand.

"We are excited to expand our work in Argentina with LDC by joining forces with Bayer's PRO Carbono program," said Noah Verleun, President and CEO of Global Clean Energy. "This strategic collaboration brings us one step closer to making camelina a key contributor to regenerative agriculture, while scaling sustainable feedstock production for advanced biofuels globally."

Bayer promotes regenerative agriculture by combining sustainable solutions and digital tools to produce more with fewer resources while restoring nature, seeking not only to improve harvests but also to deliver positive results for the environment. As such, and in collaboration with other industry players, Bayer’s PRO Carbono program helps producers to implement sustainable agronomic practices that increase productivity, reduce emissions and capture more carbon from the soil, in particular direct sowing, increased crop rotation, and cover crop incorporation to keep soils covered for most of the year.

β€œAt Bayer, we are committed to generating transformative change to achieve a carbon neutral future for agriculture. This collaboration marks a significant milestone on the path toward more sustainable agriculture that is resilient to climate change, especially in the current global context that demands food and other products, such as fuel, with a low carbon footprint,” said Juan Farinati, President and CEO of Bayer Cono Sur and Head of the Crop Science Cono Sur Division. "Leading the change towards a more responsible agricultural model that restores soils is possible. In this case, by incorporating camelina as a winter cash cover crop alternative, in line with the goals of the PRO Carbono program," he concluded.

$GCEH News: Global Clean Energy Announces Advancements in Herbicide Resistant Camelina Varieties
November 15, 2023

Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB:GCEH) today announced key advancements to accelerate adoption of Camelina sativa (camelina) in areas with higher use of two key herbicide groups, Group 2 and Group 14. This development will allow the Company's patented camelina varieties to be planted in fields treated with residual herbicides, previously off-limits to planting of camelina.

A new Global Clean Energy camelina variety has confirmed resistance to imazamox and imazethapyr, the active ingredients in Beyond1 and Pursuit1 (Group 2 herbicides). The commercial launch of this new herbicide resistant camelina variety is expected in 2025. Additionally, Global Clean Energy has tested over 6,000 lines from its camelina tilling library and found tolerance to PPO herbicides (Group 14), such as sulfentrazone contained in Spartan2 and Sonic3 herbicides. The Company is initiating introgression of this trait across elite lines in an accelerated breeding program.

β€œOur advancements in herbicide resistance and tolerance will allow us to target new production areas while accelerating famer adoption, making it easier to grow camelina and build upon Global Clean Energy’s record camelina contracted acreage of 65,000 acres worldwide in 2023,” said Mike Karst, Global Clean Energy’s Senior Vice President and President of Sustainable Oils, the Company’s upstream subsidiary.

Camelina is a resilient oilseed that provides cover crop benefits to land as it is grown, has a quick maturity, and does not displace food and feed crops, while generating additional revenue for growers on otherwise idle or fallow acres. Camelina is cold tolerant, low water use, and can be sown and harvested using farmers’ existing equipment.

Global Clean Energy has over 20 years of camelina breeding history and is dedicated to developing and delivering superior, diverse genetics that provide farmers the most suitable high yielding camelina varieties for their growing conditions. The Company has developed a proprietary collection of over 25,000 camelina genotypes possessing naturally divergent traits and a tilling library of over 8,000 distinct mutant lines using conventional non-GMO techniques. Global Clean Energy’s 20 patented camelina varieties include both spring and winter varieties with a suite of traits to enable camelina cultivation as an intermediate crop in a wide range of geographies and crop rotations. They are commercially available in the U.S. through Global Clean Energy’s subsidiary Sustainable Oils, Inc., as well as in South America, and throughout Europe through its subsidiary Camelina Company.

$GCEH News: Global Clean Energy Reports Largest Camelina Acreage Worldwide
11:40 am ET October 4, 2023 (BusinessWire)

Global Clean Energy Holdings Inc. (OTCQB:GCEH) today announced that its subsidiaries Sustainable Oils, Inc. (North America) and Camelina Company (Europe and South America) worked with growers to contract a record 65,000 acres of camelina crop during the 2023 growing season. The total acreage comes from across the globe including the Western U.S., Argentina, France, and Spain.

Camelina is a resilient oilseed crop that can be used in the production of renewable fuels and sustainable aviation fuel. It is produced as an intermediate crop, grown between planting cycles on land that would otherwise be left idle or fallow, providing cover crop benefits to the land but harvested at maturity to generate incremental revenue for growers. The Company believes additive revenues for farmers growing camelina to be especially beneficial for developing rural agricultural communities. Camelina grown as an intermediate crop does not generate land use change causing it to have among the lowest carbon intensities of any available feedstock on the market.

Global Clean Energy's camelina variety portfolio - the largest globally - includes both spring and winter varieties, allowing camelina's introduction as an intermediate crop in different crop rotations and geographies. In the U.S., Sustainable Oils produces camelina mostly as a spring crop replacing fallow land in cereal-fallow rotations in the Northern Plains and Pacific Northwest. In the High Plains of the U.S. and in South America camelina is grown as a winter crop with opportunities for double cropping with soybeans, late corn, or sorghum. Camelina Company is testing camelina as a summer crop in Europe, following a cereal or pulse harvest.

"This record-breaking year for camelina has been over a decade in the making," Mike Karst, Senior Vice President of Global Clean Energy and President of Sustainable Oils, said. "Our company has over 15 years of experience breeding and cultivating camelina. We're excited that growers are starting to see the potential this crop has to offer both their fields and their profits."

"The income generated from our camelina harvest supports our family and farm in so many ways," Steve and Wanda McIntosh of SW & Crew Farms in Havre, Montana said. "We've planted Sustainable Oils camelina the last four years and plan to plant it again in 2024. Thanks to camelina we've added a new crop to our rotation, giving us the opportunity to increase our profitability and reduce our risk."

Sustainable Oils' farmers also experienced record camelina yields this year, reaching up to 1,900 pounds per acre. As Global Clean Energy's new higher yielding varieties become commercially available in 2024, the Company believes that camelina planted next year may surpass 2023's results.

"Globally, as more farmers learn of the benefits of this unique crop, we expect to exponentially scale camelina acreage, generating a new, truly sustainable feedstock for the renewable fuel industry," Karst said.

EarthDaily Agro and Global Clean Energy Announce Partnership to Grow Adoption of Camelina-Based Renewable Fuel
10:03 am ET July 18, 2023 (PR Newswire)

Initiative will harness leading-edge data and analytics to support the development of camelina as a sustainable renewable fuel feedstock

EarthDaily Agro, a division of geospatial analytics company EarthDaily Analytics, has been selected by leading renewable fuel developer Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc.and its subsidiary Sustainable Oils, Inc. to support their work to increase the adoption of camelina in the renewable fuels marketplace through their Climate-Smart Camelina Project.

https://mma.prnewswire.com/media/2155966/camelina_EarthDaily_Analytics.jpg

The multi-year contract is made possible by a $30 million U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Climate-Smart Commodities Grant, which was awarded to Global Clean Energy for the purposes of developing camelina as an ultra-low carbon renewable fuel feedstock and building associated climate-smart renewable fuels markets. The initial project will focus on the Western U.S., with plans to expand to other regions of the world deemed suitable to camelina production. Because camelina has not historically been a widely cultivated crop, EarthDaily Agro will produce the first full-cycle economic viability and production yield dataset to serve as the basis for mainstream cultivation and renewable fuel production.

"Global Clean Energy and Sustainable Oils are recognized leaders in the expanding renewable fuels industry, and EarthDaily Agro is proud to partner with their innovative mission to bring new solutions to the industry," said Dave Gebhardt, General Manager of EarthDaily Agro. "By collaborating with EarthDaily Agro, Global Clean Energy and Sustainable Oils join a growing roster of agribusiness leaders harnessing the power of Earth Observation and geospatial analytics to cultivate leading-edge business intelligence."

"As the renewable fuels industry continues to expand, optimizing the efficiency of our production is critical for meeting growing camelina demand," said Kevin Monk, Sustainable Oils' Vice President of Ag Technology. "Geospatial analytics and data processing from EarthDaily Agro equip our company to make informed cultivation and commercialization decisions to continue advancing camelina as a high-potential, low-carbon renewable fuel feedstock."

EarthDaily Agro's satellite-derived, scientific-grade geospatial data provides Global Clean Energy and Sustainable Oils with leading-edge change detection, yield trend modeling, carbon indexing and crop cycle detection. Through the technology, EarthDaily Agro supplies informed guidance to help current camelina growers maximize yields, as well as economic and agronomic feasibility information to increase camelina adoption among additional growers. In 2024, EarthDaily will launch a new Constellation providing enhanced data for vegetation, water, atmosphere and soil to its ag customers such as Global Clean Energy.

"With the ability to grow on otherwise idle acres, camelina can produce renewable fuel feedstock without causing land use change β€” and worldwide, more than 100 million camelina opportunity acres exist," Monk said. "This climate-smart fuel alternative has the potential to energize the growing renewable fuels sector, simplify global supply lines for critical commodities like renewable diesel, reinforce domestic energy supply chains, and provide additional revenue for farmers."

$GCEH News: Global Clean Energy Signs $30 Million USDA Climate-Smart Commodities Grant Kickstarting Implementation of the Climate-Smart Camelina Project
1:00 pm ET May 31, 2023 (BusinessWire)

Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB:GCEH) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have signed a contract for the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities Grant for their Climate-Smart Camelina Project. With the signing, work can officially begin on their $30 million pilot project to measure and validate the advantages of Camelina sativa (camelina) as an ultra-low carbon nonfood renewable fuel feedstock.

Climate-Smart Camelina is a large-scale pilot project to implement, measure, and validate the climate advantages of camelina in both rotational (e.g., on fallow acres) and winter crop (e.g., in a double-crop rotation) production systems. The project will accelerate farmers' adoption of camelina grown to produce feedstock for renewable biofuels and chemicals without causing land-use change and while increasing carbon capture in the soil. Further, the project will support market development to provide additional revenue streams to growers and provide a premium for this low carbon intensity crop.

"We're excited to begin this important work to help prove what we have known internally for years - that camelina has the potential to be the lowest carbon intensity feedstock option on the market," Chief Executive Officer of Global Clean Energy Richard Palmer said. "The environmental benefits of camelina are substantial, and with the data collected from this effort, the growth of camelina adoption can accelerate along with the confidence of growers."

The project entails a range of measurements at different spatial and temporal scales integrated into metrics which will evaluate the production efficiency and carbon intensity of the biofuel generated, as well as soil carbon sequestration and general agronomic best practices. The key highlights for this project are the use of multiple methods of data collection to cross reference approaches, calibrate sensors, and validate models for long-term low-cost scalability. In the end, this project aims to offer several benefits to growers and the environment, including:

Increasing overall soil health; Increasing the total carbon sequestered within soils; Decreasing the carbon intensity associated with growing camelina; Obtaining more accurate measurements to prove environmental benefits of growing camelina; And providing growers with access to affordable and reliable measurements.

Global Clean Energy owns the world's largest camelina patent and intellectual property portfolio. Their wholly owned subsidiary, Sustainable Oils, Inc., contracts directly with farmers to grow camelina currently in key regions of the U.S. including Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington. Camelina grain is grown for use as a source for Global Clean Energy's ultra-low carbon renewable fuels produced from their Bakersfield Renewable Fuels refinery in California.

Global Clean Energy Selected for up to $30 Million USDA Climate-Smart Commodities Grant for Advancement of Camelina as Renewable Fuel Feedstock
September 14, 2022 (BusinessWire)

Today the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB:GCEH) was selected for participation in the Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant program. The company was awarded up to $30 million for a pilot project to measure and validate the advantages of camelina as an ultra-low carbon renewable fuel feedstock. Altogether the program received over 450 applications for this initial funding pool.

"Being selected for this grant signals that the advantages of camelina as a low carbon feedstock are undeniable," Chief Executive Officer of Global Clean Energy Richard Palmer said. "Camelina is a nonfood crop grown on fallow land between traditional crop cycles so as not to contribute to land use change, while producing ultra-low carbon renewable fuels that act as a drop-in replacement for their petroleum-based alternatives. This funding from the USDA will help us accelerate farmer adoption of camelina, which will improve soil conditions on existing farmland and help reduce the negative impacts of climate change."

The USDA's cost-share grant is aimed at reducing American agriculture's carbon footprint. According to the USDA's announcement, Global Clean Energy's Climate-Smart Camelina pilot project will "accelerate farmer adoption of camelina as a nonfood crop grown on idle acres to produce more plant-based feedstock for renewable biofuels and chemicals with low carbon intensity and no land-use change while increasing carbon capture in the soil."

Global Clean Energy owns the world's largest camelina patent and intellectual property portfolio. Their wholly owned subsidiary, Sustainable Oils, Inc., contracts directly with farmers to grow camelina in key regions of the U.S. including Idaho, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Camelina grain is grown for use as the source for Global Clean Energy's ultra-low carbon renewable fuels produced from their Bakersfield Renewable Fuels refinery in California.

$GCEH News: Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. Letter to Shareholders
10:00 am ET May 2, 2022 (BusinessWire)

Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB: GCEH) has issued the following Letter to Shareholders providing an update on the company's vertically integrated farm-to-fuel businesses, including recent acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic vision for future growth.

Chief Executive Officer's letter to shareholders

Global Clean Energy (GCEH) has effectively advanced our transformational goals in a period marked by an ongoing multidimensional global pandemic, anthropogenic climate change, and geopolitical instability. Our average share price from 2019 to 2021 has increased nearly 750% all ahead of revenue generation that will come from the operation of our Bakersfield Renewable Fuels Refinery, which will begin producing in the coming months.

GCEH has been successful during these challenging times because we know that to truly have an impact on climate change, we need to do so responsibly without impacting food security. In order to succeed, energy transition businesses need to be environmentally sustainable, socially sustainable, and also economically sustainable. GCEH is one of the few energy transition businesses that legitimately accomplishes all three. Starting with our nonfood camelina feedstocks, we have built the pathway for continued growth as we invest in our Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream businesses. Our operating model -- Simple Strategy, Strategic Implementation, and driving Impactful Solutions -- helps to ensure we will be a global leader in the production of ultra-low carbon sustainable fuels needed to reduce dependence on petroleum, and reduce the impacts of climate change and food security.

When we founded this company, it was with the realization that to have a tangible impact, we need to take big steps. Global Clean Energy is taking big steps. As shareholders, you are already aware that our innovative, nonfood, vertically integrated, farm-to-fuel business model sets us apart from our peers. Our structure allows us to manage every step of the renewable fuel production business -- from science to seed and farm to fuel -- lowering the carbon emissions associated with renewable fuels and streamlining processes to ensure greater efficiencies every step of the way. From our upstream model of using both classic breeding and cutting-edge scientific techniques, like genome editing to increase yields in our proprietary camelina varieties, to our downstream operations that produce ultra-low carbon renewable fuels at our Bakersfield Renewable Fuels Refinery -- we are continuing to strategically identify and enter into partnerships and asset acquisitions that will advance GCEH's successful growth trajectory. Below I will outline the steps we've taken this past year, our platform for scalable growth, and the plans we have to achieve GCEH's vision of producing the most sustainable, least carbon intense, lowest cost fuel possible without impacting food security or causing land use change.

Simple Strategy

Intertwined with our vertically integrated farm-to-fuel model, is our focus on ensuring scalable growth, doing more with less, and having the greatest impact. Many have noted that the single largest constraint to the growth of renewable fuels is the unmet supply of sustainable feedstocks to meet future market demand. By acquiring companies that add value to our production platform, strategically building assets across the value chain to reduce cost and increase margins, and expanding globally through strategic partnerships, our team is doing our part and making great strides toward meeting the global feedstock deficit responsibly. This buy, build, expand strategy is evidenced in our company's growth this past year.

Strategic Implementation

Global Clean Energy is focused on the future when investing in and developing advantaged assets and intellectual property. By establishing a robust upstream platform that our future growth will be based on, we will be self-sustaining and capital-light. In 2021 we made great strides in advancing this platform.

Upstream

Acquisition of Camelina Company Espana - Significantly bolstering our upstream operations, Global Clean Energy acquired Camelina Company Espana (CCE), the largest camelina supplier in Europe. This acquisition successfully brings GCEH's upstream model into the global marketplace. Through this purchase we significantly expanded our intellectual property portfolio and agriculture support capabilities, allowing us to further expand our camelina business into Europe and South America. It allows us to scale our deployment platform through strategic partnerships covering thousands of farmers and tens of millions of fallow acres in these markets.

Acquisition of Agribody Technologies (ATI) - Purchasing ATI allowed us to speed up the global development of novel non-GMO camelina varieties using advanced plant science technologies. ATI holds 15 issued U.S. patents for bioengineering key genetic switches (gene editing). We have also expanded our in-house resources to further speed up the breeding process for enhanced traits by utilizing the power of genomics.

Acquisition of Entira, Inc. - By acquiring this agribusiness, consultancy, and marketing firm, which we partnered with for years, we gained in-house expertise for our U.S. camelina agronomy team by supporting its efforts in grower development, education, and support. Through this strategic acquisition, we bolstered our U.S. camelina production strategy and expanded our camelina development program.

Relocation of Upstream Business Headquarters - Our upstream growth isn't limited to acquisitions. We also relocated our upstream business headquarters, Sustainable Oils, to a state-of-the-art complex in Great Falls, Montana. From this existing agricultural facility, complete with labs and local agricultural support personnel, we can better service our farmers across the Northern Plains, Pacific Northwest and throughout the Midwest.

Midstream

Grain storage facility construction - Our midstream growth this year was bolstered with our acquisition of a 42-acre parcel of land located adjacent to a CHS shuttle train loading facility in Harve, Montana, where we plan to construct 600,000 bushels of grain processing and storage. By reducing the need for intermediaries in our midstream operations, we keep costs down and ensure the quality and reliability of the camelina feedstock delivered to our downstream operation in Bakersfield, California. Moving forward, we plan to build four additional camelina aggregation points as well as other storage infrastructure co-located with existing shuttle train facilities to further streamline midstream logistics.

Downstream

ExxonMobil Strategic Relationship - Perhaps our most significant growth this year came through expanding our strategic relationship with Exxon Mobil Corporation and its affiliates ("ExxonMobil"), which invested $125M in our business, further validating our vertical farm-to-fuel strategy. The investment is in addition to existing long-term supply agreements in which ExxonMobil has committed to purchasing up to 210 million gallons (5 million barrels) per year of renewable diesel from our Bakersfield Renewable Fuels Refinery. ExxonMobil's investment ensures a lasting relationship that will accelerate our nonfood camelina production in key growing regions, and expand efforts to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector.

Impactful Solutions

There is no doubt that renewable fuels have environmental, social, and economic benefits. They help reduce transportation-related carbon emissions by burning cleanly and acting as a drop-in replacement for traditional petroleum-based fuels. Their expanded use reduces our reliance on foreign oil imports and will contribute to improving air quality. By converting our sustainably produced camelina oil to drop-in renewable fuels, we are reducing pressure on food land and competition for scarce water resources, positively impacting global food security. The only thing holding further market expansion back is the unmet demand for sustainable, nonfood-based feedstocks. GCEH recognizes this and is poised to be a major disruptor in this market for years to come.

As we look to the future, it is with an eye on leveraging our platform for rapid, responsible, and scalable growth. We see enormous potential in our upstream asset portfolio due to the limited capital necessary to scale the business in target regions and the growing demand for ultra-low carbon intensity, nonfood feedstocks. Given changing environmental policies and global unrest, immense potential exists for exponential growth in this sector. Global Clean Energy' proprietary camelina feedstocks - the only varieties in the world currently qualifying for California's strict Low Carbon Fuel Standard - will lead the way in this burgeoning market thanks to our continued focus on upstream investments.

We would not have been able to achieve the foregoing without the extraordinary efforts and commitments of our employees. I cannot thank them enough. And thank you for your support of our company and the trust you have placed in our vision. Together we will continue to positively impact the future and ensure that renewable fuels deliver on their promise of sustainability.

Watch us grow!

Richard Palmer Chief Executive Officer Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc.

Gosh - Note how John says 'the back part of the plant for renewable diesel for trucks/jets etc;' some that plant is making LP gas, and another will make solar energy.

It could still list anytime but they'll save it for huppla at plant opening.

Just from simple gooogle query; 1MW will supply 164 homes, so bet we will sell solar power also.

:)

Our solar park is set to do 10MW.
I don't think the plant will require all that!

Wonder if our refinery will use all that 10MWs of solar power; maybe we'll be net supplier of yet another stainable power to customers via pge's ETC services; who knows!
I never knew we were going be selling LP gas. ;)

Solar Dominates Power Mix

''At 54%, large-scale solar energy accounts for the largest portion of PG&E's total renewable energy power mix. The company has over 250 Renewables Portfolio Standard-eligible power purchase contracts, totaling over 6,500 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy. Of that, about two-thirds is solar energy. According to the California Independent System Operator (ISO), one MW produces roughly enough electricity to power 750 homes. PG&E also owns 445 MW of eligible-renewable generation, including 13 solar power plants, which are mainly located in California's Central Valley and generate up to 152 MW of clean power.

Additionally, PG&E has connected more than 608,000 customers with rooftop solar to the electric grid, and supports customers with resources before, during and after they go solar. One in every five solar rooftops in the country are in PG&E's service area.''

Global Clean Energy Holdings and UGI Announce Partnership to Distribute Renewable LPG
February 15, 2022 (BusinessWire)

Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. (OTCQX: GCEH) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with UGI Corporation's (NYSE: UGI) subsidiary, AmeriGas Propane ("AmeriGas"), the nation's largest retail propane marketer, to purchase and distribute renewable LPG produced by GCEH. AmeriGas will leverage its supply and logistics infrastructure and sales and marketing teams to market and distribute GCEH's renewable LPG to new and existing customers primarily in the state of California.

As part of a multi-year agreement, GCEH's Bakersfield biorefinery will process up to 15,000 barrels of renewable feedstock per day, including GCEH's proprietary energy crop, camelina, to produce renewable fuels including bioLPG. This biorefinery, which is expected to begin operations in the first half of calendar 2022, is projected to produce approximately 13 million gallons of renewable LPG in its first year of regular commercial operations, making it the largest commercially available renewable propane production facility to date in the United States(1). Under the distribution partnership, AmeriGas will be the long-term exclusive buyer of renewable LPG from GCEH's Bakersfield biorefinery.

"Our investment in the Bakersfield biorefinery coupled with AmeriGas' industry-leading footprint across the propane supply chain is a powerful combination aimed at advancing the growth of the renewable fuels market in California and elsewhere," commented Richard Palmer, President & CEO of Global Clean Energy Holdings.

Renewable LPG, also known as renewable-propane or bioLPG, is chemically identical to today's fossil LPG (C3H8) and therefore can be used with existing infrastructure. It has up to 80% lower carbon footprint than that of conventional LPG and a much lower carbon intensity than conventional diesel or gasoline fuels.

"We are thrilled to partner with GCEH to bring renewable LPG to customers in a rapidly developing market where there is strong demand for biofuels and a focus on environmentally sustainable energy solutions," said Roger Perreault, President and CEO - UGI Corporation. "This long-term agreement demonstrates continued progress on our environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and strategy to invest in renewables. It is another great example of our ongoing efforts to provide innovative, low-carbon, sustainable energy solutions to customers."

Russell Blades, Vice President, Technology & Sustainability at Global Clean Energy, added, "Agreements like this and strategic partners like AmeriGas support our integrated Farm-to-Fuels-to-Market value chain strategy, which truly differentiates us from other renewable fuel producers and sets an exciting stage for future growth."

"This strategic partnership leverages the strengths of each organization and sets the foundation for both companies to work together across traditional agricultural, energy and supply chain lines to bring lower-carbon fuels to customers," said Steve Kossuth, VP of Global LPG Supply - UGI Corporation. "We look forward to working closely with the team at GCEH to advance renewable LPG to market in California."
