CAE USA awarded US$26-million contract for Special Ops Black Hawk
simulator TAMPA, FLA., March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- (NYSE:
CGT; TSX: CAE) - CAE USA has been awarded a contract valued at
approximately US$26 million (C$32 million) by the U.S. Army Program
Executive Office -- Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO
STRI) to manufacture a MH-60 Black Hawk Block 1 combat mission
simulator (CMS) for the U.S. Army's 160th Special Operations
Aviation Regiment -- Airborne (SOAR(A)). "The U.S. Special
Operations Forces continue to play a prominent role in U.S.
military actions, and they have an ongoing requirement for more
advanced mission rehearsal and training systems," said John Lenyo,
President and General Manager, CAE USA. "We have now won more than
US$100 million in business over the past three years from the
Army's 160th SOAR(A), and we are hopeful that our experience
positions us well for further business with the Army as well as
other U.S. and allied special operations forces." The MH-60 Black
Hawk CMS built by CAE will be able to support training and mission
rehearsal for both variants of the MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter
flown by the 160th SOAR(A). Featuring CAE's Medallion-S(TM) image
generator and a large field-of-view display system, this simulator
is designed to significantly enhance mission rehearsal capabilities
with the aid of CAE- developed common environment/common database
(CE/CDB) architecture. CAE will deliver the MH-60 CMS in late 2006,
following the delivery of a CAE-built A/MH-6 Little Bird CMS this
summer and the delivery of a MH-47G CMS scheduled for spring 2006.
The 160th SOAR(A) operates the MH-60K, a highly modified utility
helicopter designed for special operations missions such as
infiltration, exfiltration, and resupply, and the MH-60L, an armed
version of the Black Hawk helicopter. CAE is a leading provider of
simulation and modeling technologies as well as integrated training
services for commercial and business aviation, and defense
customers worldwide. The company has annual revenues of
approximately C$1 billion, with operations and training facilities
in 17 countries on five continents. High-resolution photos are
