                 SouthernEra Announces Appointment of Williams de Broe
                   as the Company's UK Nominated Advisor and Broker



TORONTO, ONTARIO, The Board of SouthernEra Resources Limited announced today
that Williams de Broe Plc has been appointed with immediate effect to act as
nominated advisor and broker to SouthernEra Resources Limited, in respect of the
Company's listing on the London Stock Exchange AIM market.

SouthernEra is a Canadian public company with its primary listing on the Toronto
Stock Exchange (TSX). In September 2002, the Company was admitted to the S&P/TSX
Composite Index. The common shares of SouthernEra commenced trading on the AIM
on August 13, 2002 and the Company is currently the fourth largest AIM listed
company by market capitalization.


SouthernEra is a platinum group metal (PGM) producer and an international
diamond exploration and mining company. Its primary assets are located in the
Bushveld Igneous Complex, South Africa. The Company's principal focus is on PGMs
through the Messina Platinum Mine, a wholly owned subsidiary of Messina Limited,
a South African company listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE).
SouthernEra currently has a 70.91 percent controlling shareholding in Messina
Limited.

Other important assets within the Bushveld Igneous Complex include the operating
Klipspringer Diamond Mine, in which SouthernEra has a 50 percent joint venture
interest with Naka Diamond Mining (Pty) Limited, an affiliate black empowerment
company of De Beers Consolidated Mines Limited and the recently acquired
Millennium Platinum Project, located in the Mpumalanga Province.


The Company continues to explore for both precious metals and diamonds and its
current exploration projects are located in Canada, South Africa, Gabon and
Australia.
